I'm a qualified tiler from the Sunshine Coast. Like most trade business owners, a huge chunk of my week went into work I never got paid for: driving out to jobs, measuring up, going home, putting a quote together, sending it off — and then hearing nothing back. The hours I spent quoting were hours I wasn't on the tools earning.

And it cut both ways. When I did win work, I was often signing on with builders I knew nothing about — no track record I could check, no way to know if they paid on time or ran a decent site. Finding good builders I could trust was just as hard as finding the work itself.

I built BuilderTrade because this shouldn't be so hard. Builders set up a proper project record once, invite their regular subcontractors and open selected packages to verified trades only when needed. The same plans, scope and decisions then follow the job through quoting, award, site activity and completion.
